Which US states have the most job postings?
As of October 5, 2026, the states with the most active job postings on employers’ own careers sites were California (81,675), Texas (60,024) and New York (41,781).
Each state’s count is the one jobs by location lists. Postings that name no state are counted in no state rather than split among them.

What this doesn’t tell you
It counts postings, not jobs or people. A posting is not a vacancy or a hire, and the counts are not adjusted for population, so a large state leads by size alone.
Coverage is the employers we track, read from their own careers sites, by the location each posting states.
Some postings name no state. They are in the US total and in no state here. States with fewer than 200 postings are not listed.
